2nd June 2021

Weather: SSE force 2, misty

A warm morning without the need for extra clothing.

An easterly wind today with 24 hour coverage produced movements of  15 Swift and 3 House Martins, also Collared Dove and Raven. The Whitethroat is still present, as are the pair of Eider, while Rock Pipits were very active and feeding young at the north end.

Linnets are also starting to fledge now, following the sucess of the Blackbirds. The other main interest in the fine weather were a couple of Painted Lady butterflies and several Common Blues.

On the record sheet for today were 15 Sandwich and a Common Tern, 19 Shelduck, 2 Little Egrets and both Kestrel and Peregrine. The late evening was as impressive as was the sunrise this morning.
