Weather: SW force 2/3, SSW 1/2 by noon
The westerly element in the wind did not bring many warblers (2 Willow Warblers only) but there were a variety of species to grace any spring day. White Wagtails are still moving, there were 6 today, also hirundines with 2 Sand Martins and 14 Swallows, not to forget the 2 Wheatears. Appearances of 2 larger early spring regulars were in the form of 2 Woodpigeons moving south and a Magpie.
Two Manx Shearwaters flew offshore, and 28 Red-throated Divers, 200 Common Scoter, 80 Sandwich Terns and 45 Gannets were logged, while lesser totals of Guillemots (8), 2 Red-breasted Merganser and a Shag were also on the sea.
The 2 tardy Brent are still here,
........ and some duck gave them company; scarcest of these were a pair of Shoveler, also a Teal flying south west and nearer to the island were 5 Eiders, 8 Shelduck and a Goosander.
Only 5 Whimbrel this morning with 18 Ringed Plover, 9 Grey Plover, 460 Dunlin and 2 Purple Sandpipers. A Peregrine turned up and around the island were a Grey Heron and 4 Little Egrets.
Butterflies noted were 8 Green-veined White and a large White. Late in the afternoon rain showers were approaching the island.
