Weather: E force 3/4
A visit mid-morning found it quiet despite the easterly wind. All that was in the paddocks and gardens was a Chiffchaff with a couple of Goldfinches about the island. A flava (Yellow) Wagtail flew over and a male Greenland Wheatear was the only one recorded today.
Sixteen Swallows filtered passed the island. The four Eiders of the last day or two became five with the arrival of a new immature male.
An immature Shag stood at the north end was seen to be ringed but the number could not be read.
Twelve Gannets, 250 Sandwich Terns, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Guillemots and 12 Common Scoter were the sea birds recorded. The 2 Brent are still content to stay, 8 Shelduck were counted and a Peregrine, 4 Little Egret and 2 Grey Herons were on the list. Nine Whimbrel were again the best of the waders with 4 Curlew and 200 Dunlin. On the way to the island the West Kirby Marine Lake hosted a Cormorant struggling with an eel.
