7th September 2019

Weather: NNW 3, 4/8 cloud, good vis

A morning ebb tide seawatch produced some straggling seabirds including four Leach’s Petrels, four Manx Shearwaters and 3 Arctic Skuas, also 32 Common Scoter and 5 Guillemots.
As the wind dropped the evening tide brought signs of autumn with a Shoveler on the tide edge.  However, the seawatch was less productive than the morning with the highlights being a couple of Shag and single Arctic Skua and Arctic Tern.

Wader numbers look to be increasing in particular 20 Bar-tailed Godwit and 280 Sanderling were noteworthy.  Below: Turnstone

A single Wheatear was present, also the Magpie this morning.

Below: Little Egret with Oystercatcher and Small Tortoiseshell butterfly.

A Robin was ringed and a Comma butterfly was found - a sure sign of a September day!

Last of the light during the day...
