11th September 2018

WNW   3-4 vis 1 ml with heavy rain early but clearing later

A sea watch was not very productive with just a single each of Manx Shearwater and Red-throated Diver, 130 Common Scoter, 8 Great Crested Grebe and 280 Cormorant.

Only the male Eider was seen today. After the tide a Peregrine disturbed the waders on the East Hoyle.

Passerines were very low in number with no migrants noted.

Ringed Plover numbered 28 and 21 Knot were at the bottom of the Gutter, numbers of other small waders were also low.

A Harbour Porpoise was noted during the sea watch and a fox was discovered on the east side by members of Wirral Bird Club.

Three Common Field Crickets were calling and this one was spotted by the day room.
